Decide What You Would Like

It may seem more than a little obvious, but whether you tackle the task alone or hire a professional, you are going to need to have a plan. Consider exactly what will be painted, will it be the entire room or just an accent wall? Will you also be painting the ceiling and skirting boards? And, of course, what colour will you be opting for?

Consider Wear and Tear

Before choosing the finish, bear in mind the amount of wear and tear the walls are likely to face. For example, it wouldn’t be advisable to opt for a matte white wall in a children’s playroom where grubby hands and marks are aplenty, perhaps a satin magnolia would be better suited.  If the area your painting is going to face a lot of wear and tear, such as a hallway or even a business space, you may be better off investing in a professional service that will truly stand the test of time.

Complete with Decor

Adding some decor can be the finishing touch to the new look. If you’ve gone for a neutral colour, you may want to add a bit of warmth with a unique wallpaper or some fun pieces of art. Likewise, a bold colour can be paired down with neutral accents like a mirror or some simple throw cushions.
